Mums are here!

Fall is just around the corner and the mums are just beginning to show color.  We have a great selection of colors and size pots to choose from.  There is the traditional 8 inch mum, the 4-1/2 inch mum and the large 14 inch patio planter. If you want your mums to survive the winter it is a good idea to get them planted early so their roots can get established before the ground gets cold.

August already

It is hard to believe that August is here already.  It seems like the summer is flying by.  Now is the time when it is important to make sure your plants get plenty of water and fertilizer to help them make it the rest of the way.
If some of your flowers have already been scorched by the hot summer, we still have a great selection of beautiful flowers.  Fresh hanging baskets or a nice patio planter can quickly change the look of your backyard.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July!

As we head into the holiday weekend we at Motts Greenhouse would like to thank all of our service men and women for the sacrifices they have made for our country.

Tropcial Hibiscus

Tropcial Hibiscus

Tropical Hibiscus are loaded full of buds and blooms in the greenhouse. Choose from reds, orange, and pink.  If you prefer perennial hibiscus we have those also.

June is Perennial Month

Perennials are in full color right now and there is a great selection to choose from.  Butterfly bushes, Stella d' oro, Coreopsis, and Lupines are all beginning to bloom.  We also have some nice perennial grasses to choose from.  Canna Lilies are here!  We have yellow, red, and rose.  These lilies add a unique look to your landscape.
Any time you plant perennials it is a good idea to add a little Bone Meal to the hole, this will stimulate root growth to get them started.  Also make sure that they get plenty of water during the hot summer months.

Large Tomatoes

Large Tomatoes

We  grow several varieties of gallon potted tomatoes.  Big boy, better boy, beefsteak, early girl, sweet 100, golden jubilee, rutgers, and juliet.

Its Time To Get Out and Plant!

We have a great selection of vegetables this year and they are ready to be planted.  Over 15 varieties of sweet peppers, 15 varieties of hot peppers including the ghost and carolina reaper.  We have 12 varieties of heirloom tomatoes and over 20 varieties of hybrid tomatoes.  Cucumbers, squash, watermelon and muskmelon plants.  Its not too late to think about planting your seed potatoes, onion sets, cabbage broccoli or lettuce; there is plenty of selection left.
We know the weather makes it difficult to plant early, so we keep our plants healthy and green so when you are ready they are ready.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is fast approaching.  Give mom the gift of flowers this year.  We have a great selection of beautiful flowers to choose from.  Here are some ideas:  Tropical Hibiscus, Hanging Baskets, specialty planters created by our staff just for mom, Clematis, Regal Geraniums, and Mendinillas.  If not flowers, than we have some nicely detailed Concrete Statuary that would look nice in the garden.
If you still can't decide what mom would love the best, we offer gift certificates as well.

Transplanting

Transplanting

Transplanting flowers and vegetables is how the ladies spend the month of April.  Thousands of tiny plugs get transplanted from plug tray to the finished flats each day.

Spring Is Here!

During the month of April we are busy preparing our retail store for business.  A lot of work has to be done.  Perennials are moved outside to make room for all of the flowers, vegetables, herbs and hanging baskets that make our store so beautiful.  Each week we stock the store with more plants, as they become ready. We have grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries available now.
There are some perennials in bloom like Irises, Poppies, and Dianthus.

Plant Care Products

Plant Care Products

We offer a diverse choice of plant care products.  Some are organic and some are non-organic.  We want our customers to have success with our plants when they take them home to plant.

Healthy Plants Start Here!

The weather is cold outside, but the greenhouse is warm.  This is the first week of plants being delivered, so our spring planting season has begun.  For the next several weeks we will be busy planting and preparing for another successful spring.

Once the weather does begin to warm up, we will have beautiful blooming pansies, cabbage, broccoli and lettuce plants to start your gardens.  Onion sets, seed potatoes and peas will be available mid-March.

We carry a complete line of organic fertilizer and pest control products to take care of your plants during the growing season.
